Environmental studies and e-DNA
The applications we can develop for use in environmental studies, monitoring or other environmental licensing activities include:
- Biodiversity monitoring: environmental DNA (e-DNA) analysis is a non-invasive way of monitoring biodiversity (plants, animals, microorganisms) in an area by taking samples of water, soil or other substrates;
- Endangered species assessment: identifying, tracking or confirming the presence of threatened or endangered species in areas of interest;
- Diversity/connectivity studies between populations: assessing the genetic diversity between populations of key species for environmental licensing can help in decision-making on the conservation strategies to be adopted for certain situations, in assessing the impact of intensive events on the environment, as well as in defining protection areas.
